Family stories, including the impact of the 1886 earthquake in Marion County, S.C.; family trips to the beach; quilting; "Grandfather 'Barf'"; Dillon County Fair and appearances of Gypsies during 1920s-1930s; harvesting and flue-curing of tobacco in specially-designed barns; school days in Dillon, 1923-1927; Jack Moody's impressions of a visit to the chateau of Blois in France (published 24 Oct. 1918 in Dillon Herald - Moody served as an Army Field Clerk in the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I); Howard E. Moody's account of his capture and life as a prisoner of war in 1943 while flying B-17s as a member of the 379th Bomb Group after getting shot down by the Germans; and other accounts of travel, farming, and rural life.
